History

Briggs Memorial was organized in the spring of 1954.  The congregation's first meetings were held in the home of the first Pastor, Reverend Charles May.  Also in 1954, a small church building was built on land donated by Mr. Samuel K. Briggs.  This first church and later our current building were named in recognition of Mr. Briggs' generous gift.

As the need for more space became evident the church purchased several acres of land.  On January 2, 1972, the congregation moved into our present facility.  Throughout the 1970s the church saw unprecedented growth, leading to its recognition as one of North Carolina's fastest growing and most influential chuches. During this time Briggs learned to use every available means to reach the surrounding community. Over the past fifty years, God has used several men to pastor the congregation at Briggs.  The church will be ever indebted to these men and the influence that they have had on this ministry.

In January of 2009 Jeff Midkiff accepted the call to pastor Briggs Memorial Baptist Church.  With a desire to rekindle the fires of revival, Pastor Midkiff has led the church towards revitalizing the ministries that have made the church great.  Soulwinning, missions, the bus ministry, adult Bible classes, and youth ministry are all being used to reach people and impact Guilford County and the world for Christ. The future is bright and unlimited as we follow the Lord's leading.  To God be the glory, great things he hath done!
